In June, the biggest international event on Adventure Therapy worldwide, the International Conference of Adventure Therapy, was held in Kristiansand, Norway.

Our CEO Alexander Rose, and Paloma Martínez (Social Worker from the prison of Valencia - Spain -), presented a workshop on an Adventure Therapy program using archery for inmates.

This specific intervention was conducted in the frame of the Spanish national violent behavior intervention program for inmates (PICOVI) in Valencia (Spain).

During more than 10 hours, in a natural setting near Valencia, 8 inmates with sentences for violent crimes such as murder, injury, assault, theft with force or intimidation, etc., and that had shown hetero and/or self-injurious behavior in prison, learned positive coping strategies and worked on relapse prevention using archery.

The team is elaborating on an article that will be accessible in our International Journal of Adventure Therapy with the rest of the Proceedings of the 9IATC/3GATE.
